Wow! Can you believe summer is over and it is already football season?! I hope all of you had a great summer. There have been a couple of changes that have happened since our last issue that are both exciting and bittersweet. In August, our Director of Business Development, Erin Clementson, accepted a new position that would allow her to spend more time with her children, my grandchildren. While her presence will certainly be missed, I could not be prouder of her and her many achievements during her time here, and for putting her family first. Don’t worry, she’s a Mitchell – she’ll still be around, just not as our Director of Business Development.

This said, I would like to introduce you to our new Director of Business Development, Barrett Myers. Barrett has more than 10 years of development, sales and marketing experience, primarily with non-profits, which is just the type of grit and dedication we were looking for. We are very excited about his fresh perspective and new ideas he has already displayed in his brief couple of weeks.

Some fun facts about Barrett:

  • He played some college football but also enjoys watching English football (soccer)
  • He considers himself a chocolate cookie aficionado
  • Dog owner and lover of 2 dogs, a chocolate lab and a Catahoula leopard
  • Outdoorsman
  • Christ follower

Melvin Mitchell Honored for 55 Years of Service

This past July, Melvin Mitchell was honored by the Rotary Club of San Antonio for his 55 years of service. President Chris A. Williams, a fellow Aggie, honored Mitchell with a commemorative plaque at the July meeting. With over 50 years of general contracting experience, Mitchell is the 2nd generation of leadership at G.W. Mitchell and is currently serving as Chairman of the Board. Mitchell is also an active member of the Conopus Club, and the 12th Man Foundation of Texas A&M University and the Association of former students at Texas A&M University.

Construction Zone – Coldwell Banker Dominion
We are pleased to announce the completion of our recent buildout for Coldwell Banker Dominion. This high-end office buildout, which is the first Global Luxury Office in the United States, features a modern and upscale lobby, glass-enclosed conference rooms, agent offices, and a multi-agent work area allowing touch down space for over 17 agents. The property also has a break room with easy access to the work area.

The high-end finishes include tile flooring, with a feature wall that is a preformed Soelberg panel with an inset signage specific to the Global Luxury brand, Raco framing and doors, unique statement lighting, a projection light that allows the brand to project onto the floor, and an interactive AV screen allows patrons to view properties from outside the office while waiting.

The Superintendent, Miles Neubauer’s eye for detail and special projects experience made him the perfect fit for the Coldwell Banker Dominion property. The new property was built in a space previously occupied by a restaurant/bar and required significant demolition and plumbing reconfiguration while maintaining the adjacent restaurant operations. The Design was developed by Acuform Architecture with mechanical and electrical systems designed by Gillette Air Conditioning and MS Engineering.

Coco’s Corner
It’s no secret that we are big fans of Texas A&M. That’s why I thought we should kick off the football season right with the perfect game day snack. In honor of many members of G.W. Mitchell’s alma mater, I present you with The Twelfth Man’s Wings! Just fry the chicken wings as directed below, or for a healthier option skip the flour coating, grill, and then toss in the sauce. GIG EM!

Ingredients

(15-ounce) can tomato sauce
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup chipotle-flavored hot sauce
1 tablespoon grated lime rind (about 3 limes
3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
4 to 5 pounds chicken wings
1 tablespoon salt/1 teaspoon pepper
1 cup all-purpose flour
Peanut or vegetable oil

Step 1
Heat tomato sauce and butter in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring until butter melts. Stir in honey and next 4 ingredients, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, and simmer, stirring often, 5 minutes. Set tomato sauce mixture aside.

Step 2
Cut off wingtips, and discard. Cut wings in half at joint, if desired.

Step 3
Sprinkle wings evenly with salt and pepper; dredge lightly in flour, shaking off excess.

Step 4
Pour oil to a depth of 1 1/2 inches into a large, deep skillet or Dutch oven; heat oil to 375°.

Step 5
Fry wings, in 3 batches, 8 minutes per batch or until golden and crispy. Remove wings from oil using a slotted spoon; drain on layers of paper towels. (Allow oil to return to 375° before adding next batch of wings.)

Step 6
Place wings in a large bowl. Drizzle with tomato sauce mixture, tossing well to coat. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
