Have you all recovered from Fiesta yet? We are back in the swing of things at G.W. Mitchell Construction but had a great time celebrating with the rest of the city.
As we start the second quarter of the year, we are blessed to have our workload ramp up with several new projects and will continue to make great strides with our existing jobs. Rio Bank and Roosevelt Artist Studios are progressing nicely and we are nearly finished with the Gensler Finish Out, Barrett Jaguar Land Rover and Kuper Realty on Broadway. In addition, we will be starting work in June (to follow up on the home construction in the late 1920’s) on a major site renovation at the McNay Art Institute. You can check out some of our progress below.
Additionally, we are currently looking to fill various Superintendent and Project Management positions. If you know anyone who might be a good fit for GWM, have them send their resumes to email@example.com.
Big Wins for Team Mitchell
Recently, G.W. Mitchell’s Special Projects Division won the American Subcontractors Association’s 2018 Project of the Year for the Coldwell Banker D’Ann Harper, Global Luxury project. However, that’s not the only big win we have had lately. Q1 started with a bang with several new projects secured.
Those projects include:
- Light & Print Building – AmWins/Web TPA tenant improvements
- Cavender Jaguar Land Rover
- Grant & Kress Building finish out
- Gensler Office finish out
- Vance Jackson Office #1
- H-E-B Cypress Tower site work
- N. Flores renovations
We are very excited about the months ahead and great projects we initiated in Q1.
Construction Zone: 5000 Broadway
A transformation of Kuper Sotheby’s International Realty existing workplace located in Alamo Heights is happening! Recently, Kuper leased a 2800 sf, single story building in the heart of downtown Alamo Heights, providing additional workspace and expanding their ever-growing Alamo Heights presence.
G.W. Mitchell has been working with SixthRiver Architects to design and build a space that will make Kuper’s vision a reality. This project has presented several challenges for the team due to the discovery of asbestos, uncovering three levels of abandoned ceilings, water damaged framing and structural cracking caused by foundation failure. The patience and persistence of the project team showcased how teamwork makes a difference.
The building has a Santa Barbara feel that features arched architectural features including a high vaulted ceiling clad in wood, creating a very open and airy environment. Black Raco framing and high-end tile flooring in the common areas and carpet in the offices finish out the space. Additionally, an exterior facelift sets the building apart from its neighbors.
We are currently partnering with Kuper on four additional projects and one additional project is planned for later this year. Subcontractors include Barton Interiors, Masters Electric, Gillette Air Conditioning, Alamo Tile, Intertech Flooring, FAK Painting, Sunset Painting, Hull Doors, B & T Glass, Goetz Plumbing, Robles, KMAC, Medina Valley Security, and the Koehler Company.
