Diamond K board roomG.W. Mitchell’s estimating and developing budgets approach ensures all costs remain within the scope of work approved for the construction program. Cost control begins with the budget process and the collective input of all professionals on the project team. The team tracks the project through the conceptual stage, when there is little documentation; to the preliminary stages, where design ideas are presented; to the contract stage, where the full scope of the work is examined and priced for construction. When construction documents are ready for final pricing, the company issues a request for proposal to pre-qualified subcontractors. Once construction has started, project budget process is tracked daily. Budget updates and reports summarizing costs to date are issued monthly with pay applications, or as required by the client. These reports included current cost, previous cost, and budget considerations to track progress made.
