AVANCE National Headquarters:

A 20,000 square foot restoration of a historic hotel building to serve the corporate needs of this nonprofit agency. The original Heimann Building was built in 1907 to serve as a hotel and by the end of the 20th century, had fallen into decay and was occupied by the homeless. G.W. Mitchell Construction was contracted by AVANCE to restore this historic structure and convert its use for their worldwide headquarters. Extreme care had to be taken during demolition and construction to prevent the dilapidated structure from collapsing, to ensure a safe work place and to preserve as much of the original elements as possible. The rehabilitated property houses the national offices of the AVANCE organization, a multipurpose center, an early learning academy and a cutting-edge technology center. Design by Jorge Pena
